Default Marketing ideas required for a chicken and egg situation!

We have little money left to spend on the marketing of ballz a new sports social networking site. We need to find ways to tell the world without spending very much money! …. before we can PR it to the likes of tech crunch and mashable etc ..

We’ve done most of the onsite SEO work we can and we are looking for some killer ideas to attract users to the site on a shoe string budget.
    Can anyone help?

It’s a fantastically capable website to connect people of all sporting ability or disability. Users can personalise their own selection of sports (over 200 popular and niche sports available), meet friends, manage teams and leagz, listen to news and read about their favourite sports, blog and comment on sports they’re interested in, get mobile alerts and updates, find local sports facilities and services and shop for products for over 200 sports.

    Thank you!

    Sport England, Sport Scotland?

Each sport has it's own governing body, most of them have "junior" sections. Get the older kids, the adults will follow. email the clubs and tell them you'll put their results up online.

What you may find when you get it going is that people turn up with 'Chicken and Egg' questions without as much as a 'Hello' ...watch out for that!

Welcome to A1 Sarah Roberts Make yourself at home and I am sure someone will be able to offer some advise.

Hi Sarah you say you have done the SEO on the site.I would suggest that what has been done is very limited.

You only have 10 pages indexed by google out of a possible 500+ available.

I would suggest if you have a limited budget you go back and do a lot more SEO work on the site.

So is Jason Leonard part of this then? I won't comment on the site, as I am launching a sports networking site myself later in the year

A great way to grow social networks is virally, with each new member who joins inviting a bunch of contacts to come and join them there. It means each new member fought for could mean five members.

We incorporated address book fetch functions on our site to make it easy for members to invite all their contacts. It was fairly easy to do and we allow contact lists/address books to be fetched from Hotmail, Google Mail, Yahoo Mail, Outlook and more. It is fairly easy to also add the same to fetch contacts from Facebook and Plaxo and more.

If you want to see how it works on our site go to https://www.wecando.biz/my_contacts.php?page=2 (registration is required to see it, but this takes just a few minutes).

I'd be happy to share how we did it up PM.

powerful press releases can make a massive impact on a small budget.

i would gain your customer database etc. and then re-invest in your seo and other methods of marketing.

Sadly Sarah Roberts has not revisited this forum since she flew past and left her message!
