Im been searching the net trying to fathom out the best place to possibly start an affiliate marketing campaign. After a lot of searching I am still non the wiser.

I am not sure if I should be paying a one off fee to set up a monthly ongoing cost a percentage of my takings to the affiliate company aswell as a percentage to the affiliate themselves.

Can somebody explain exactly what I should be looking out for and maybe share any experiences they have had with Affiliate companies?

Who have you looked at so far.

I take it you are referring to it as a merchant and not a publisher (mind you, you could do both as a means to feed the other )

The big two I know of are Trade Doubler and Web gains.

The biggest two are Affiliate Window and Commission Junction. Not sure if I should be using these as all they seem to want to do is bleed me dry for my cash and I am still unsure of what they would actually do i.e would they activley seek people to sell my products or is that left upto chance?

I will check out Trade Doubler and Web Gains though as havnt come accross these

I know of CJ and can say that I find them a bit poor, under performing & dull and so do many of the affiliates I work with. I would look for a UK based operation as you can then control any issues directly with having to bounce questions across the Atlantic...

They do prmote their merchants via forums and other channels (newsletters, their company blog etc).

You might also get somewhere with affiliate future.

HA HA yes I wasx expecting it and meant to put it in my post. I have sent requests to both Web Gains and TD so lets see what I get.

Ill give the forum a try trouble is there is so many out there I was kind of hoping to get a recommendation of somebody who is actually using one who can share their experience.

The only affiliate scheme I've ever really been involved in, is this ( fairly ) new Ei42 business.

It doesn't cost anything at all to join though with no monthly fees.

Is this classed as an affiliate business in the sense you mean ?
