Right then as some of you know I am part of the committee that puts on my towns carnival (Oldham). As I am completely rushed off my feet during the weekend I have roped in my sister and a friend to run a fundraising stall for me for 'Parents for Play'.
The problem is I know that there must be a better/more imaginative way to raise funds on the weekend given the amount of visitors that attend (25,000 last year)
So if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to here them.
The first thing that popped into my mind was one of those business challenge programmes (sorry forget the name) and the team with the kids face painting were way ahead of the others (was it in Hamleys? so the team that got the kids interested got the parents to buy).
Maybe if you can get the kids to your stall with face painting or balloon animals you can empty the parents pockets?

Maybe I'm just not getting your project... Here are the things we did to raise money.
Bouncy castle ( we got it free in lieu of advertising)
Ball pool (same as above)
Fancy dress competition ( charging entrant fee - big donated prizes)
Face painting (easy peasy)
Hair braiding (same as above)
***ellry making (need lots of cheap materials)
Cake and coffee stall/cafe (great hit!)
Jumble sale (huge success, but lots of organising)
Treasure chest dig (wicked success)
Play station games (boys loved it)
Any good ?

The day (well two days) is your normal carnival. Parade through the town, fun fair rides, stage acts, stalls there is also a viking battle/display this year. If you google oldham carnival you will find it (didn't want to link from here). There are six of us who organise/have a nervous breakdown over it.
Parents for Play is the social enterprise I am trying to set up and I need raise some money towards the summer play schemes I am trying to put on to give us me more of a track record and thought the carnival would be a good place to do it.
