Now don't all faint but I have actually visited an accountant!
I am splitting the funding I need into two and applying to funders for the set up and running costs for the first year. For the actual play equipment I am thinking of a launching a major campaign to try and raise the money for that from the community. Basically trying to persuade as many local people as possible to donate a £1. I would try and get some press coverage, get the schools, community groups and everybody else I can think of involved.
I meant do you think asking the community to fund the purchase of the play equipment would work
There are practial problems which can be resolved, there is also the isssue that I am not a registered charity and presumably I would need to wake up the company as well.
Yep.....Am certain that the community would love to play their part no matter how small or large in your project
Afterall it is for their benefit.....why not approach local companies to seeif they would like to 'sponsor' a piece of equipment...much like local councils do now with the likes of roundabouts
they purchase the individual piece or part thereof and in return get a nice little plauqe with the company name on
Regards
Pete

Technically if you are not a registered charity, then any financial donations you receive should be accounted for where tax is due for the business purposes. So for every £1.....
Do you have a relationship with the Oldham Evening Chronicle? As your idea is a community-based project within the borough, this might be a campaign they're willing to back from day one, so worth a conversation!
