Am really upset to read a few blogs that state 'yes it was cruel but we don't see this reaction to starving children all around the world'. Yes children and animals are starving to death around the world and we (rich nations) should get angry/upset and do something about it but to me it was the fact that he deliberately tied up a living thing and made it starve to death. If we heard that someone did that to a child in order to make a point about starving children I think we can bet our bottom pound they would know what the inside of a prison looks like by now.

Yes, I totally agree. I am often told that I should put more effort into helping children and the starving, rather than worry about cruelty to animals!

I really do find this extremely upsetting, since of course I care about children and the starving. However, cruelty is cruelty in my eyes, and if each one of us, did just one little thing a day, to try and make a difference, this world would be a much nicer place
