    Default Bing/Yahoo deal. Major?

    Hi,

Well, If I got it right, they are now 2 major comanies active in the internet search: google and Microsoft/yahoo, both using the same "Bing" technology now.

Google has a large 80% of market share worldwide. Still, this deal between msft and yahoo might spice things up a little bit, adding a (much needed) competition in this business. It also raises some questions:

    1) Is it gonna change anything about SEO/PPC on yahoo?

    2) Are google SEO/PPC professionals also experts for this new entity?

    3) Do you expect enough competition to see a price drop in PPC?

    thx,

    Alex

Yes. This is talked about on the net in several places. Will be a while though before yahoo changes over.

    2) Are google SEO/PPC professionals also experts for this new entity?
Yes. Bing is actually more similar to google than yahoo or msn were in terms of search results. At least that's what I'm finding.

    3) Do you expect enough competition to see a price drop in PPC?
A price drop will not happen in PPC. If anything yahoo/ms ppc prices will go up because the search engine is better and will have more popularity.

Thank you! You say it's gonna take a while before yahoo switches over to the new system. Does that mean that they did not copy paste bing but implement it step by step or smthg?

Why would they keep an hybrid system for months?

(I found part of the answer to my question myself: maybe not the upset the current users/clients)

"Why would they keep an hybrid system for months?"

Yahoo isn't using bing yet and they are not on a hybrid system. They are looking to implement bing a year from now earliest. Therefore you won't see any bing like changes at yahoo for quite some time.

"Are many people using Bing now I have found that my website are ranking quite nicley on the search engine well alot better than google I presume this is because the competition??"

Bing has noticed a slight rise in usage - probably from hotmail users who are happy with it. Sites that have better on-page optimisation seem to rank better in bing although not as well as yahoo since bing seems to place more emphasis on link profiles than yahoo - but not as much as google.

Keyword rich domains do better on bing than yahoo or google.

I do not think so. I think this pact may bring some subtle changes in the SEO or PPC of yahoo but there is no remote possibility of dramatic change.

    2) Are google SEO/PPC professionals also experts for this new entity?
Do not get your point. Google has nothing to do this pact. Please clarify this your next post.

    3) Do you expect enough competition to see a price drop in PPC?
Google is still considered to be the leader. Most of us prefer to invest in Google PPC rather than Yahoo PPC. So you can get more at the same price but there is no possibility of the reduction in the price.

    thx for your answers.

Webdevpro, by "2) Are google SEO/PPC professionals also experts for this new entity?", I meant something like:

If yahoo becomes big again, can I ask a google PPC/SEO specialist to make me appear on it, or am I better off asking a "Yahoo/Bing specialist"?
