Adsense a crime related site

This ones got me scratching my head.

A friend of mine is working on a crime database / website and he has asked me to give him some advice regarding adsense and how this can be a source of revenue for the business.

I had a little look into the field for similar content sites and found a blog about knife crime which currently runs adsense. Now heres the problem...the blog is written by a chap who seems very passionate about killing knife crime in the UK, fair enough, the content is fantastic, so you are halfway through an article about how terrible knife crime is, and then suddenly you are reading an adsense advert which is encouraging you to buy knives of all shapes and sizes...hardly what you want to be promoting.

Does anybody have experience with online advertising + the crime sector? Is adsense the best way to go or are there any other better alternatives?

I don't think it makes much difference: you're talking about knife crime; the (legal) commerce most relevant to this topic is knives.

You can filter the type of sites that are advertised in the adsense setup.
