Default Facebook advertising - geotagging for business off the beaten path

    Hi

This is my first post so i hope i'm doing the right things.

As simply as possible our problem is this, our farm and farm shop is quite off the beaten track and we have been thinking of using facebook advertising, it all seems very good however when it comes to what i believe is called geotagging we struggle for not being near to a major city, (we are roughly betwen Guildford and Portsmouth).

Facebook offers to target people within a 10, 25 or 50 mile radius of a city however to do so for Guildford for example would give a large number of customers on the wrong side of Guildford who may be too far away to be interested in us.

I understand i can select two cities and take a radius from there however again this is not ideal, a radius directly from our postcode would be preferable.

Is there any way around this problem that people have discovered? I hope i havent missed something obvious. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we have a great product and site we just need the customers!

    Hi,

I just looked at the volume of people on Facebook within 25 miles and its 300,000 (roughly).

Now I bet only about 25% are regular Facebook users (my guess). So you have a fairly small audience to go at so I would not worry too much if you get some that are the wrong side of Guildford.

What other demographics can you use?

Are you typical customers men or women? What age? etc. These are other criteria you can use in Facebook to narrow it down.

What's the product you are selling?

    Cheers
    Mike

    Hi Mike

I see what you mean, our only concern is that really we would like to target those in a 10 mile radius around us, rather than possibly wasting clicks on people who will think we are too far away.

Our product is organic beef and lamb, we also sell a range of organic produce also. It seems strange to me that facebook would not be able to set the area by postcode rather than city.
