Default Seeing what google sees in another country...

This deserves another thread

Sally

Take everyting you see from keyword tools with a pinch of salt

In fact that seo tool keyword tool of mikes is downright misleading - it looks good having the google/yahoo numbers , but they are total cr*p scuse the french - too much assumption and too little fact.

See what I said on anothe thread about calibrating search results on google trends...none of those other tools will tell you what google thinks, and trends gives you the demographics too.

But also if you want to see what a UK or US user sees, it is NOT ENOUGH TO use googl.com or googel.co.uk

Because you still have an IP address that locates you, and google sees that and behaves accordingly

So if you want to see what we see in the uk on google

LOGIN VIA AN ANONYMOUS UK BASED PROXY SERVER or IP CLOAKER

Just search free proxy server london or ip cloaler and you will see one of the swebites, that school kids use to use facebook on school computers that bar facebook!!!

But it also allows you to search and see what google UK users see.

Ditto any other country in the world

I use this regularly to see what US users see on google com.

or you can add "&gl=us" to see what US visitors see with the right Adwords Ads

Good point.

But one of the reasons I do this with proxy servers is to see what particular city users see... so for example is there more or less competition in london or manchester , atlanta or washington

Based "up north" it is important to see what london users see.

And the adwords competition is massively different in different parts of the US

If anyone knows how to do that in google by any other means than a local proxy, I am all ears!!!

I've used it quite effectively without any problems.

No one tool is ever fool proof but as a good guide to which keywords are getting good search traffic it's perfectly fine.

I certainly get more than my fair share of traffic from the keywords I've found from it.

By the way, I know you didn;t mean to imply it's my tool but just for people reading the thread. The SEO Tool I was promoting is the Keyword tool from SEOBook which is run by Aaron Wall. I'm not linked in anyway with Aaron (except from buying his book) but I'd say he's one of the best on the market for SEO.

What a great thread thank you.

It is very frustrating, I tried to use a google tool last night and the whole thing automatically came up in Arabic (which I can't read).

I shall give the proxy servers a try tonight and report back how much difference I see.

By the way if anyone wants to know what their site looks like to foreign users or look up keywords from outside the UK then just give me a yell.

Sorry Mike..that was clumsy of me....it wasnt a You issue I was making, neither was I decrying aaron wall....but the idea of fixed traffic ratios between yahoo google and so on , which that tool uses.
I also see massive discrepancies in the adwords keyword frequency tool ,whenever prepositions form part of the phrase.
