I have a £40.00 Google AdWords advertising credit that was part of my Limited Company Formation.
What levels of investment are generally required to get noticed?
I'm more adept at offline advertising and haven't really explored adwords, preferring to outsource this to skilled people to do for me in the past.
Do the values vary greatly by market sector?
I will be applying this to a B2C market website that is going live in June.
What further information is required to help give a more definitive answer?

The level of investment depend greatly on what you are marketing and how much others are bidding on the adwords you think most appropriate. Some spend £1000s on Google ads others find a niche and spend very little to hit their target market.
What you may find helps, is to do searches on the type of word(s) that you believe your customers would be typing and how much is currently being bid on those words. If there are no bidders you may find a small budget can go a long way, if they are popular then £40 could vanish in a click (excuse the pun!).
