I've been playing with keyword in adwords, to get an estimate of the number of clicks etc. I'm finding that any keywords related to "Same Day Courier" seem to give a max of 20 to 30 clicks per day for about of about 25 quid a day. Please bear in mind that these are google estimates not real figures.
Is this about the best I can expect?
Can one seriously work their black magic to get near 50 click or 100 click etc.

Start placement targetting - there is often far more traffic, and cheaper.
(a)Target the sites that rank for your keywords...and TARGET THE ACTUAL PAGES, not the sites as a whole.
(b)Pick only sites where the google ads are on the first fold and prominent
(c)Bid high enough to get in the first 3 on those sites
(d)Have a very low tolerance to none converting sites - my own rule is if I dont get a click in 100 impressions I zap the site, I suggest you use 200 - until you are experienced at writing small ads that convert.
(e)When you become confident bid CPM not CPC, because your ad will replace three othres - use image ads if permitted to allow you to put in PROMINENT COLOURS - I do this , straight out of the gate.
(f) Use googles placement site tool to recommend sites ...but NEVER bid blind. Have a look at every site, and only pick those focussed on your niche
A couple of examples are freeindex and UKSBD....there are a lot more.
You will generally/often get MORE traffic at half the price of search targetting this way.
BUT ONLY when you learn how to write small ads that work.....

Thanks Admagic, What I find hard to believe is that even if I submit a really stupid figure for max costs, I still only get 20/30 clicks it appears that is the maximum available. (Atleast according to google)

Google anticipated clicks are not always accurate...sometimes wildly innacurate - if you bid max for a period you can see for sure....
And by the time you take the long tail ...eg
courier malton, courier thirsk, courier wetherby, courier harrogate , parcels harrogate etc (you get the picture) those small pieces can add up to something worthwhile.
There is also a lot of traffic on directories of various kinds. - which is not measured by google - so placement targetting is not only cheaper it is vital
You should also get into the heads of your customers what else do they type .....what are the big brands for example...???...eg TNT, Securicor etc etc.
But dont p*ss the brands off by bidding on their keywords directly into your site, set up a simple "courier comparison website that includes them ( and a fair comparison with ticks and crosses...that happens to rate you the best....,
(hide who owns it on "whoiis" and drive traffic to that..
By the way, if you didnt already know, there is UK traffic to the phrase "cheap courier" and the compeition is not strong for SEO.
So use a domain name of "cheap courier"
If that website gets traffic, you could even pull a cheeky one, and ask the brands if they want to pay to advertise on your comparison site!! - your cheap courier website with pages for each part of the country could end up earning more than your courier busieness!
