Google Local

Does anyone know why google local sometimes gives me sole rights to the first page of google with my own map. Sometimes I share the list with similar companies. My company name is exactly the same as the search term so you would expect me to have sole rights.

Any ideas?????

That is Google local listings and brings up usually the first 10 in the list, sometimes, less, for the keyword phrase they were searching on.

Sometimes it brings up only 1 entry. Sometimes it brings up 10. If its brings up 1 then it thinks you are the most relevant for this search term. Basically similar to the normal google guidelines. My problem is 90% of the time I get the whole listing. 10% of the time I share with 9 other companies.

Any ideas why anyone ?

It could be that you are the only one with the exact keyword phrase someone isn searching on, could be that you're the only one listed for that keyword.

If you give us some examples we could take a look.

Is it causing you a problem?

Unfortunately you cant do anything about who gets listed alongside you. Sometimes I get a single top page listing to myself, and others I have to share. I also have as many as 3 listings in the top 10.

Sadly many people are cheating a great deal with local entries by adding additional keywords to the company name in order to appear higher.

But generally local does tend to be very static and follows many same rules as natural listings.
