I would like to tell you about a project I have setup with my partner after recently graduating from University.
The aim of the project is to build a business directory based around a fun concept, in an attempt to promote businesses who are a part of the project, offering an alternative solution to marketing.
We have already received great feedback from people letting us know about their increase in traffic since being a part of our project.
The way it works is very simple. Choose a keyword that is related to your business, check if it is available and then link that word to your website.
E.g. a computer repair business may wish to define "ComputerRepairs" as a link to their website.
Words that you have defined are then yours for life and are exclusive to you (Competitors cannot define the same word).
Potential customers will then be able to click on your word(s) which will take them to your website.
Words you define will be randomly featured on our homepage, will be placed in our latest words section and will be added to our dictionary which users can browse and search through. Words can now be categorised, making it even easier for them to find your business.
We would like to invite you to be a part of our project, please visit projectword.co.uk
Hi,
Thank you for your comments. We had the idea from searching on Google, we thought wouldn't it be great if people could actually own these paticular keywords which then link directly to their website.
We also thought that it would be a great way to offer low cost advertising to a whole range of businesses. Each one having an equal opportunity to advertise.
We have great plans for our project, I am currently developing a new version which has a slight re-design, extra functionality and improved usability. I am very excited to launch this but at the same time want to spend enough time making sure everything is perfect.
We are planning to combine the browse by letter and browse by category sections which will allow you to filter through words by category, start letter, substring and various other options.
We have various other improvements, its hard to let too much go at this stage as I would like to save it for the next release.
Im glad you thought our project was interesting. I will post in the forum when our next release is out, would love to know what you think.
Ive moved this to Company Profile forum as you now have an introduction post. When you updated version is ready, you could put it in the Review My Website as the best place to get feedback.

Really good idea, I came across something similar where a company were rewriting the dictionary and you could purchase a word/words which provide a link back to your site at a dollar, I think. Hope it goes really well for you Jamie x
Hi,
Well the basic concept is that someone chooses a keyword that they want to link to their website. So a toy store may choose actionfigure to link to their website. They then check if the word has been purchased already on our website, if it hasnt, they can link it to their website.
People will then click various keywords that are of an interest to them.
We see this as targetted marketing because you will attract the customers that are interested in what you do/what you sell.
People benefit from the service by receiving visitors to their websites, probably targetted visitors unless people are just browsing the latest added words.
I have had an email from one person saying how they bought 5 words for $5 and within a month it had generated 30 clicks. This works out that the person in question paid 0.16 dollars per click. This is far better than an adwords campaign which is also more targetted. On top of this, the person $1 per word is a one time fee, the more clicks she continues to get, the cost per click would work out to an even smaller cost.
E.g. This person has now receivied 100 clicks on her words in total, it now works out that she has paid 0.05 dollars per click.
We are working very hard on this project and are 100% commited, the more people who we get interested in our project, the more visits project members will receive.
I hope my explanation has given you more information on how it will be beneficial.
