Hi all,

Following on from this thread earlier I wanted to let you know my company formation has gone through and:

A1 Business Forums Limited is born

It will be dormant company for now, and whilst I'm not looking to monetise the forums as such, I will be rolling out cheap banner advertising later to cover the running costs, which I will do on a sole trader basis - but it was important to secure the limited company name as well.

That said, I might operate the Forum as a limited company in a few months time - to protect me personally from any future (god forbid) libel issues

Another forum has had a thread running on this topic for over a week and it has caught my eye on several occasions.

Whilst running a business forum in a past life we had to keep an eye on what members were up to as we received letters from businesses who although they were trading poorly (standards wise) they wanted to limit damage to their name as much as possible and were prepared to take forum posters to court over libel claims and this ultimately could have led to the forum owners fronting up as defence - a costly process when you are self employed.

I remember talking to Ray sometime ago about protecting the name somehow. Its a good approach to register it with Companies House as a Ltd co.
