Default Pain Free Review requested ;)

My site has been up about a week now.

My service has been operating longer this under another site, but this is my stab at something more professional.

Please pass by and tell me what you think.

    Short background to my business

I offer a total package service to small businesses who don't have a massive amount of money to spend on promoting and marketing their services. I generate ideas, write the sales copy, and design online and offline promotional materials for just £15 an hour and as I work at a rate of knots there are massive savings to be had for what remains a top quality product.

What I am trying to achieve with the website

I want to turn browsers into wealthy clients.

What problems am I currently experiencing?

I hope I've ironed most of them out, but I'd like to know if the website clearly conveys how I can help small business owners and if they feel the 'sell' is working for me.

Please comment on anything you feel is relevant.

    Thanks

    Leah

ps. I created the site myself using an online package for just £44 for 2yrs hosting, domain name and email forwarding. Not a bad price eh?

I dont do web reviews here, but after a quick glance at the home page i'd suggest getting rid of the yellow highlight as it ruins the page and its itegrity. Those mass marketing emails and marketeers can get away with it on their cheesy sales web pages but thats about it. Its not akin to a professional services web page.

I was just about to remove said yellow but then I thought

    'a quick glance...and that's what she noticed...maybe I'm being hasty'

Meanwhile, I know the ads you mean, but those hideous sales pages of which you speak turn their clients into millionaires, so I try not to knock their methods too much

Perhaps a pale blue highlighter as a compromise?

Its what I noticed that I found off-putting, hence the reason I fed it back, not because it was effective

Those cheesy pages get away with it because they also implement every other rule of those type of marketing pages which makes them effective on the target market hence why the good ones will be successful.

I have to say it does not seem very professional to me.

The services page is wider than the other pages.

Although the website validates with W3C CSS, there are warnings that same color and background-color is being used, therefore hiding 'keywords' which search engines frown on. (see http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ )

The coding does not validate using http://validator.w3.org/

There is no need for the visit counter.

I am using a small(ish) screen/resolution at the moment and I have to scroll down a bit before I see what is going on.

The 'tips' button is just sitting there!!??!! Why is it not part of the main menu or have the main menu running down the side. Tips is something that people would be interested in, but it is not shown off, or as I did initially miss it.

You should also keep the 'tips' link on all the pages. As I said use this to draw visitors in.

There is coding all over the place on the 'about' page. For example '<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--> ' That is only in IE7 in FF there coding does no appear.

The background looks a little clunky, maybe stick it back through photoshop to grade out more. Although saying that this PC is old and it could just be a tired graphic card.

From an onsite seo point of view you should look at changing the titles for each page, reaserch some keywords you want to rank higher on search engine results.

Also you should change the file names of your pages, to match the best keywords for your niche, or match the pages they are representing.

Sorry if the above all looks a little harsh, but to me it does look £44s worth.

At least I didn't mention what I thought about 123reg

Well the OP did say it was £44 for 2 yrs which means its a cheaper end web solution, so you cant really review those types of websites as you're kinda stuck with what they are. Best concentrating on the areas the OP can edit.

    Thank Wood1e

There are no hidden keywords so no worries re frowning Googles

As Indizne said there's a limit to what I can do with this site.

Re Google ranking, that doesn't concern me so much as I am on Google front page for keywords relating to certain services I offer with my location, though likelihood of those terms being searched widely is small.
    /search?hl=en&q=website+content+dunstable&btnG=Sear ch

I intend to market this service mainly offline in my local area, hence my main concern in that it is very clear what service I offer and whether my sales pitch is effective.

I already have clients in the USA and to be honest I want to focus more on local business if possible. I can get out and about and off my pc then

I can't see the code you mention on the about me page , I'll take another look and also the page width re services page...not sure why that is? It looks same as the others on my screen.

The idea re tips link on each page is great, thank you

I have a blog with a bazillion tips on it, I might be able to link in to that so it looks like a page from the same site.

    Thanks again

    Leah
