Home Page review please.

Hey everyone,

I'm hoping you fine folks can give me your honest opinion on our new homepage design.

We're switching our ecommerce provider to magento, and taking this opportunity to tweak our current homepage.

In the last 6 months business has really boomed, so thought it best not to change it to much, although I've never been truly happy with the current site.

Below are links to the proposed new homepage design, along with current homepage. Can you please let me know what you think to the new colour scheme etc.....your comments will be much appreciated.

I personally like the newer design as I think the side menu looks better and also the mouseover effect on the links in the middle of the page work better because the image of the person dancing remains on top, whereas in the old design this disappears (well it does when browsing with Chrome). The rounded edges are better also

I really like it Lee, mind you those dancers are popular and I thought I had seen them somewhere before when I was replying to another thread here on A1 earlier, as they have the black silhouette dancers on their site too.

My first thought when I saw the dancers was of Apple iTunes and their picture

yeah actually I thought I had seen them before, even before seeing OPC's site. Probably was itunes or whatever!

THe new design is fine, I would make/change the dancers image so it is smaller. That way visitors will be able to see the special offers more clearly, at the moment on a small screen they are not seen, unless the visitor scrolls down.

Which visitors are happy to do, but if they see no reason to then your bounce rate could be higher than needs to be .

Something I noticed on the current site none of the footer links work!!!

And I think I prefer the original logo, rather than the new one, looks a little samey

Looking good, as long as you have the license for that image

Key text is very hard to read. low contract ration needs addressing.

Agreed, the text area near the 'dancers' is grey on load for some reason and also there is both a line through one of the dancers and some text over him. Minor issues, apart from that looks very good.

I have to admit that I actually prefer the current one rather than the new one.

The new one does look slightly 'softer' though, which is an improvement. However, with the new site, your white text on a light grey background doesn't help - it is impossible to see it!
