Ian,

The logos that we did for you, the small gradient version would look best for your site.

Have you tested it?

Home page

Great logo, looks a tiny bit blurred to me but then I have very old eyes these days and have been staring at my screen for 9 hours solid.

Nice big text, easy to read. I don't understand the significance of putting "are you looking" in italics, makes it feel 'salesy' which puts me off.

Why is this in quotes? “Our displays are the most realistic artificial flowers you can buy, plus their beauty does last forever.” You are saying it yourself and then signing off in your own name, I expect quotes to be from a third party.

Love this seeks bestsellers, make it sound as though your products sell well and the images give me a feel for your products. However I would change the images so the cheapest of the best sellers is at the top and it also very different from the images on the top of the main part of the page.

About us

Fabulous images. Like the photo of you and your wife, makes it personal. Not so keen on the first paragraph of about us being written in the third person. The home page is signed off by you both and then I jump to third person so having made a personal connection with you I am now losing it a bit. Then in the next para you are back to first person.

Love the third para, really warm and personal.

Because you are using block text you have a large gap - Our chance to meet customers is usually at the All Saints - as you can see.

Orchids

Again stunning pictures. I was just about to type 'what is missing for me is information about the flowers' but then I clicked through, more by accident than design. I would say something like click the images to read about the flowers or click image for more info.

Your images and text aren't lining up, so the heading for the second Orchid is above the first image.

I have just gone from Slipper to Dendrobium and have 2 different size fonts. They need to be the same on all pages and personally I would take off the block text as some lines are so spaced out they are hard to read.

The miniature flowers, I would like to see an image of one next to something so I can see how small they are, I think it would add a wow factor.

Events

2 different sized fonts, indented paragraphs and no line space between paragraphs - looks messy.

The only thing I cannot find is how to care for the flowers once I get them, do I dust them or wash them? Even if you add this in with the flowers I am bound to have lost the paper by now so would look for your "care & information" page. Are they in pots, can I choose different shape/colour pots? Do you do commissions for other flowers?

Thank you so much

I know of a very good product, green, compostable, soft packaging, but it works out aroun £5 - £6 per box. But the box & packaging is recycleable. It kind of depends on the value of the items you are selling as to whether you can bear a £5 packaging charge.

If you want more informaiton let me know, the company doesn't have a website at present, but I have a pdf I can forward you.

Kind regards
SAndra

Ian,

Firstly the site looks well laid out and easy to navigate through, with a nice logo but think it is just on the large side.

Just a couple of things though.

1. The image quality of some of the pictures seem very fuzzy as if as though they have been taken and just shrunk on the page by assigning the images width and height elements.

2. The vertical gradient links dont look right especially when you mouse over and it gets lighter making the text harger to read. I think just a solid block of colour would suit it better.

Tom

Wow, thanks all. Sorry i haven't replied sooner, just finished a 3 day show which didn't go well but what a lovely present to come back to.

Kay - Would you mind emailing the gradiant images again if possible? Sorry I must of missed these.

Sally - amazing review thank you so much.

With the italics, bold and quotations I'm trying to break up my text to add be bit of life to it but wanted to stay away from the obvious sales talk. Thanks for sharing your feeling on it, I'll get a few more peoples views on it and go from there.

Re the about us page I can see your point, I'll change it so I'm speaking to the viewer and correct the alignment.

Re all your other little pointers, will definitely sort them out, a lesson learnt to plan, plan and plan some more before diving in head first. I'll produce a FAQ page to cover your last observations. Thanks once again for all your time and effort.

Sandra - Sounds good, will pm you.

Tom - Cheers for having a look through the site. I think my web software (Serif Webplus) handles the image optimizing itself, I just insert and drag the image to the size i need, although the images are just taken by me on my point and shoot camera so they'll never be perfect i think. I'll play about with the nav colours, perhaps try to match them to the darker logo colour.
You guys are the best, I'll buy the next round
