Just has a very quick look at drainsurgeon. Note typos (in red):

Drainage soulution's to the public and commercial area's.

On "Background" page:completely dis-agree with thier lack of ethics

We Will not charge for incomplete works, neither will we charge for "extra's"

Hope this helps a bit.

Happy to be of service - but you've still got the apostrophe in "solutions" on the Home page.

I think you should start off by asking...why these sites exist.

3 possible reasons..

(a) to attract traffic
(b) to get people to call you
(c) to showcase what you do...to save you sending out a portfolio or brochure.

There are problems with all three.
Take aspax

On

(a) there isnt enough text to get search engines interested - moreover some basic SEO stuff is missing eg <h1> tags to reinforce the title, and further information about the subject of the title tags .... if you are tackling several areas ( eg towns) and want ranking for them, you would do well to have separate pages - using pictures and info about those areas to target them separately.

On

(b) There is little of any substance to give people a reason to call you.... no reasons WHY they should pick YOU....over others - recognise that people who are buying house alterations want houses that LOOK BETTER!!
so your pictures have to impress......there are none.

You should also put some kind of offer on the page - which gives an immediate reason.......eg a guide "10 things you should consider before extending your house - a survival guide to changin" - that in exchange for an email

(c) Is not quite the opposite side fo the coin of (b)......however when speaking to people to call it is useful to be able to say " take a look at such and such we have done, and thats here on the site"

Fact is it falls flat on all three..... and the danger is people will go to a competitor with a better looking more informative site.

(c)

Nice analysis Admagic...agree with your points.

Andy, I would get some help from a copywriter or at least someone would could properly proof read your content.

Good efforts!

leave the web to the experts!
same as my trade, we all love the d.i.y er's! . If everyone knew what they was doing we wouldn't be in business.
Anyone fancy giving me a quote to sort them?

cheers

Andy

Getting there but not done yet. Much more attractive colours on the home page now. However your home page is now just a tagline and telephone number, you also make no mention of commercial services ...... why do you think I will call you?

You seem to have an addiction to different coloured text .. do you think it makes it more noticeable? In my view it cheapens the site and would look so much more professional in black or dark grey.

You seem to have removed the telephone number that I would call and left the one that I wouldn't call.

There are still different sized fonts on different pages, you need to be consistent, as you also have some in italics and some not.

As Admagic says, there is just no information there for me to read. An example would be "Commercial pre-planned maintenance contracts" - tell me about them, what is included, what can you do that my odd job man can't? Sell me your services.

Rather than add some information to the about us page you have simply removed it. A company that won't tell me about themselves aren't getting any business from me ... it just screams fly by night (with my cash in your pocket).

Purely my opinion but I think the home page should be an introduction to your services, set out in black text something like this (needless to say I am making this all up because I know nothing about your company):

Welcome to Aspax Property Services, we provide maintenance services to domestic and commercial properties. Burble, burble aren't we great and cheap and feel sure we can do something for you.

Plumbing and Drainage - Anyone that has ever had a blocked drainage system or flood knows the importance of having a carefully planned system and regular maintenance but unfortunately many people wait until disaster has struck to consider a maintenance contract. We can install, repair and maintain both domestic and commercial plumbing and drainage systems. To fond out more about this service click here

That takes them to the services page which will have MUCH more information:

We can install on new builds or make repairs to existing systems, using high quality guild approved materials. I don't know anything about plumbing or drainage but look up some plumbing sites and see what sort of information they offer on the type of taps/washers/pipes etc they offer. Talk about a regular maintenance contract to avoid those days when you manage to flood the place.

If you do that with each section, giving them a reason on the home page to click through and read more you may stand a chance of getting them to call.

There needs to be an about us page in my opinion, most people regularly watch rogue traders so you have a challenge when it comes to building trust. So talk about "Bob and Pete have been partners for 10 years" or "a family run business, all qualified in different areas of our work" .... then tell me the what your qualifications are or more specifically what the qualification of the guy coming to do the work are. If you are a middle man that puts workmen and clients in touch then say that, you manage a team of sub contractors all qualified and guild approved or whatever.

You can do it!! Honest!!

First of all..... On the website front you would do well to use a wordpress blog with an appropriate theme ( thats the colour scheme/layout - hundreds to choose from)

The advantage of that....is that it does these clever bits about title tags and things for you.....

So all you have to do is type....., you can easily upload pictures.

With copy there is one basic rule....

Which is imagine your prospect is sat next to you with a coffee in starbucks and write exactly what you would SAY to him, if he asked you well mr aspax....so why should I come to you for this....

Answer in colloquial english, and dont explain what YOU DO exactly, explain what the benefits are for him.

I am sure you would have an answer....!
Give value credibility and reason why now.

" heres three reasons...

First and before anything else, I would like to say that our customers love what we do, and they are happy to talk about us - so I would love you to give a couple of them a call.

You see...Anyone can say they give a great service - so in our case I would you to hear our customers back that too!

Second.. we give you a guarantee. We will keep working until you are happy - so you are guaranteed you will like the result.

Last of all. We know that good customers keep coming back to us - and we would like you to do that too, so we are willing to bend over on price...for this first job - its easy.

So as a special incentive to sign up in the next 5 days - We will match whatever price you get locally ... Hows that!!

So how can you lose - talk to our customers... great results guaranteed - and we willmatch the rest on rpice!

Notice....it is chatty!!!

YOU CAN DO IT!!! - just step into your customers shoes.
