I'm sorry to say but I would seriously start again from scratch the text looks awful the colour is dull and uninviting and the site just looks like one built at the begining of the internet ,

Hi Mary,

When I first went on your site - there was a Java Plug-in Fatal error. 'Several Java Virtual Machines running in the same process an error'

Not sure if this is just IE - the scrolling text loaded fine in Firefox.

Anyway, I do think the scrolling text is a waste of time - maybe those points could be expressed better elsewhere in other forms. In fact just reading the first testimonial has some 'point's in the text. Why not look at putting a testimonial first off?

You have no 'home' link although I guess this is the 'welcome page'.
The footer filled with all those words looks like something for the search engines and to some novice surders might just look pointless - get rid of it!

'Your' and 'clients' is talking about the same person?

Do you know what your customers are looking for the most?

Design wise it's pretty bland - just like black text on white - why not get a few pictures on there. If you do some of the work yourself - why not put a picture of yourself up? Maybe even you sat at your desk.
Did you design this yourself?

If so good attempt - but if you did design it yourself, sometimes it best to consider handing it over to a web developer.

You just stick to typing and transcription - which is what you are good at!

I haven't looked over every page on the site but from what I have looked at, I would say a lot of it needs to be rewritten such as the second paragraph on the services page. This could be better written IMO especially given what you do. I would also agree with the guys above about the design- it's very bland and too simple looking and the text is too large. Don't take any of the above the wrong way, learn from it and change whatever needs changing, it'll benefit you and your business no end. We're all well meaning here and a really friendly bunch and you'll find so many people here who are only too happy to come to you rescue if there's anything you're finding difficult.

I agree with the others.

If you know you're a capable designer, do it yourself. If not, don't - it will just lose you business in the long run. Sometimes we don't know whether or not we're capable and the best way to find out is to do what you've just done and ask. :-)

Hi Anne this is going to be a long one I am afraid. I don't read what others have said so I don't get swayed by their opinions and I can only you what I personally see and think.

Home page:

That top banner does you no favours, there is no logo to give you a brand identity, the text is blurred and flat and that scrolling text is driving me nuts as it is so slow I get bored waiting for the next word.

The image of the black keyboard doesn't suggest friendly and helpful, I would have a nice smiling woman sitting at a keyboard (just my opnion of course)

The page links, the mouseover colour on white makes them disappear so I have no idea if I am pressing the right thing.

I quite like the blurb on the home page, it is upbeat and positive but I am left asking how I get my work to you for you to type - no doubt answered elsewhere but thus far that is what I am thinking.

In the blurb you have a space here:

I do like boxes with gradients on but the one on the left has a white gradient and white text so makes it very hard to read. Also the two different gradients side by side looks like someone found a new toy and got carried away.

There are half a dozen type faces on the home page - again new toy syndrome, it needs to be uniform or there abouts.

The plebble logo at the bottom is so blurred I am having trouble reading it (although that could be my eyes)

I don't like the site being left aligned, it would be better centred in my screen.

Your links are all in the wrong order, the very first one is your links page so you are driving traffic away from your site immediately. Your services are half way down. You need to prioritise those as soon as you can. Things like your sitemap and links pages are already at the bottom footer so why have them in your services and info links list?

Our Services

Where is all the info? When I hover over the link I get the 3 services and this page tells me very little else.

The 3 services bullet points are highlighted in your site colour but there is a bar running down the left, it looks like you just highlighted text and hit add colour - not nice.

Oh dear those things are links which are automatically highlighted so I have no idea they are links. I actually have to highlight them to get the blue/green highlight off ..... very odd.

So why do you have links to your links and sitemap on the links panel and then you have to press the services link and then a further link to find out the info you want - I am just sooo bored now and going to find your competitor (well if I was looking for your service I would be).

My opinion - Get rid of the silly links, make the services page an about us page (which you appear not to have and yet it is so important) and then add links to each service page so I can go directly to the info/service I am looking for.

Digital Transcription

Again lots of different typefaces and the box on the right has a header I can hardly read and the text is touching the edge of the box on the left. The main text has gaps because you have used block text.

From the box - "If you would like arrange to loan" you have a missing "to"

Audio typing

This is a totally size to the above because you don't have the box in this page, the pages need to flow and be consistent.

Needs a bit more blurb, something about you getting their tapes back to them, how long does it take to type up so many pages/minutes of tape or whatever. Also something about which is the quickest way to get you the tapes by post.

Have you missed the word "our" out of this sentence? "and w[/b]ord processing service"

The 3 services pages need links to each other at the bottom of the blurb, if I read them and it's not what I am looking for then I have to keep pressing back.

Confidentiality

l would make the words Data Prot Act into a link to the act.


I love the ten tips for dictation, have you released those as an article, they could get you some good traffic.
