Yes, otherwise I would have said it was an amateur or learner designer. But I think for a DIY you have done well because I have seen some done supposedly by professionals and your's is better
However, costs come into it, and Rome wasn't built in a day, so you do what you can with what you have, and I cant and wouldnt ever slate anyone for having a go themselves!
My brother is planning to start doing electric gate installations in a few months so if you ever need to sub-out let me know! (He is an electronics EMC test engineer by trade but wants to do his own thing now), so that was the reason for asking about the gates. He's done Sir Roberts McAlpine's house gates and gates for British Sugar amongst others, in a previous life!

I think its just the overall look and feel of the design element, but it is a good job what you have created so far. Judging by customer testimonials you're target market is the domestic customer and your site will meet this purpose just fine.
Perhaps when you want to break into larger commercial business (not literally, lol!) you might need a more commercial business look and feel to the site.
BTW as you are a limited company it is a legal requirement to display your Registration address, reg number and place of reg (ie England). Only has to be once on a page somewhere, or small print at the footer will suffice.
I would also make the logos abigger to give them clarity as I can hardly read the Chamber logo and the purpose of haivng them is so people can instantly recognise you are part of formal associations thus not a cowboy or delboy!

Hi there (Welcome to A1 - must of missed your intro thread!)
Site seems to get to the point and the links are clear. Loaded very slowly, but that might have been my connection. I just wondered why you haven't made more use of the width of the page? Which might enable you to expand the logos slightly as Indizine has suggested.
Not bad for a beginner.
Improvements?
Increase the font size a bit
Increase the width a bit
Redo the navbar order - I'd rather see what you do and THEN what other people think of you.
Lose the counter - So you've had XX amount of hits/ visits/ whatever. It's not important.
I would say your site is about as good as my electrics, I can do electrics but not as good as a quality professional.
firstly, and technically, I am impressed you recognised the need for web standards and coded your site to be W3C XHTML and CSS compliant, so thats good.
The main thing I dont like is the black to white fade header thingy.
Its very MS powerpoint or publisher, once changed I think the site will look much better
