Default Ecommerce Review :)

Hello All,

Just wanted to get some opinions on my personal Book store, I wrote it in php about 2 years ago and sales are steady.

I want to move to the next level so wanted the thoughts on how to improve the site, any and all comments are welcomed.

Thanks

Move to OMC

I think the basis of your decision should start on a blank piece of A4 and list everything you hate/dislike/need on your store. Next list all the things you like/want to keep.

I know how much work you've put into SB using osCommerce over the years so when you say "Take it to the next level" this could mean design, functionality or just overall sales...

Hmm, over an hour mate?, I had you pegged at 13 minutes

Thanks for the comments, I have to say the move away from OsCommerce was the best move I made, and im sure for you the host it was too

I'm slacking in my old age

osCommerce is not inherently bad for hosts who know what they are doing, just a poor out of the box solution.

Nope but you do qualify for a free "Phil, please write an import script to move all my orders, products and customers" when you purchase your license

Absolutely by crossing my palm with 299 pound pieces

Seriously though, it's worth every penny and if I just gave it away for free it would devalue the product

Books isn't a typical small business owner online shop business area, so it cannot simply be addressed with "get this ecommerce system for your website" or "your online shop website can be improved in this way" feedback. For this market in particular, it is sometimes better to consider other business/sales channels rather than just creating or improving your own online shop website.

Have you considered other sales channels apart from your own website? For example:

1. The are plenty of book sellers on Amazon marketplace, it is not just Amazon who sell books on Amazon

2. Since you are also selling secondhand books, placing your products on specialist second hand book websites like abebooks
