Default First Impressions

Hello, it would be much appreciated if you could have a quick look at our website ( zayo co uk ) and give us the first impression you get from it, would be great if you could come up with a few keywords as to the 'feeling' you get from the site. Also any useful criticism would be great, Thanks

Paul,

A good site, easy to understand and navigate.

The big thing that you are missing from it is any reasoning as to why people should enlist your services rather than somebody else. What are you better at than others? What do you do differently? If the answer to these questions is nothing then it is worth trying to find something that you can integrate into your business.

Do you specialize in any particular niche? Worth considering if you don't already - maybe businesses local to you, landscaping businesses, or those training people in underwater basket weaving! When you specialize in a particular niche or area then you can tell people that as a specialist for their industry/area you will understand their business better than a generalist. If you were a landscape gardener who would you choose between a general web designer or a web designer who specializes in landscape gardeners? The market place may be smaller for landscape gardeners but you would be in a MUCH stronger position to win the business. What is it in your business that you specialize in? Put the message across clearly on the website.

The only example of your work is your own website, no other demos or testimonials - these would help convince people of the value that you can add.

The only point I would make on the website as it is, on the three steps I think these come up a little too slowly, anybody who is scanning would possibly want to see them quicker.

Good work though Paul and I hope the above comments are useful.

Sue

Hi, Good clean and bright site. Took me a while to work out what you do and was a bit stumped by the pictures but overall the feeling is a steady company.

Hope this helps.

It's 90% good, although the menu on the right hand side feels intuitatively wrong. I'd shift it to the left, sometimes it's good to be normal!

Hi, i've just had a quick look at your website & found it to be rather good with quite a bit of info, crisp clean lines & easy to navigate, mind you i do agree with Boxby that the menu should be moved.

Well done.

DO you want an honest opinion?
I am reluctant to say this, but this is what I think.

A complete no no from sales perspective

As a webdesigner the bar is VERY high for you!! your site must

(a) wow the customer , with immediate visual appeal...and show the customer you can offer them all sorts of alternatives....they need to feel like they are in an aladdins cave of websites! ..it does not

(b) sell the customer - yet as has been pointed out, there is no headlline, no usp, no benefits - no sign up - no testimonials or credibility building.- no benfefit bullets

(c) prove you know a little about SEO...yet your title tags are still ww.zayo.co.uk

(d) prove you know a little about web marketing, that means titling pages to things people search for...and provide t

the reality is there are off the shelf wordpress and joomla themes that look better and certainly tag the pages properly!

Like the general feel, very clean and crisp. One thing kept catching my eye though, the nav menu top left has an object in the bottom left (I presume from the bitmap image which forms the background), and it just distracts me! I also wanted to see testimonials, (at the moment you come across a bit green, you need to generate the impression of a proven track record, even if it's just voluntary/gratis work). Generally good though.

Default cheers everyone

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for all of your feedback, it will be a huge help. I may get back to you when we have made some changes. If I can return the favor, don't hesitate to send me a message.

In regards to choosing a niche to target, Sue. We have not picked one yet and are finding it difficult to single out the best type of business to go for initially. Once we eventually make a decision, possibly we will be able to simply change the text and some images on the website to suit that market.

I like the design of the site. It really looks eye-catchy and professional.
Its layout also looks clean and well-managed.
Well done!
