Website Designers Dundee - Website Reviews Please

Hi All. Im Barry Mitchell from Dundee and I have just redesigned my website. I design website and and provide SEO services to businesses throughout the UK and I would like people like your self (business owners) to review my website design.

I currently am ranked on Google.co.uk in 3rd position as of 22nd Sep 2008 for the term website designer and I have been on the first page for about a month or so. I have also been ranked in the top spots in my local area for website designer Dundee, web designers Dundee and some other terms which have been my bread and butter for business for the past 5 years or so.

Is the design of my website and the position i now hold stopping me from getting enquiries to my website? Am i under the wrong impression that having a top spot on Google.co.uk for what I see are the most desirable website search terms for as website design incorrect?

Ill be honest im not exactly sure .. i get around 50 visitors per day according to my statcounter from statcounter.com and I havent had a phone call from my site for almost 3 weeks solid .. although before that i was getting about 3 a week and converting all of them..

Remember Google is global and the first thing you say on your site is that you offer a design service for Dundee and Tayside. I would guess that discounts almost all your visitors.

Either you should offer a wider service or target a more local set of keywords.

It seems a mystery to me too Barry. A simple analysis of a search for web design dundee shows an estimate of around 30 searches per day. Your site looks good to me. Your package prices are very keen (maybe they are too cheap?) and calls to action are good.

Maybe someone else can shed some thought on this.

Woops - I know, don't post in the middle of the night when you've woken up and can't get back to sleep. Missed the bit about you using Dundee in your search terms. Sorry.

I wonder if it's your company name that is putting people off. Does Barry's Web Design sound too unprofessional? Perhaps you could try using a more "sophisticated" name and see if that helps. Just a thought.

I love the site. May I ask what you use to design it? Do you code it yourself or use a software package?

I write most of the code by hand .. thats XHTML CSS and PHP (MySQL if needed) but so that i can see what's going on when designing i use dreamweaver... I get most of my javascripts from other sites as it takes ages to write and there is always some one else done it before .. but when i get the javascript i do rip it apart and rewrite most of it .. its the idea that i take apart and redesign ..
I dont want to spend hours writing stuff thats already been made for instance the little bit of code that changes the images on this sites home page

Its just a little javascript that changes the images (works well in IE but not very well in FF).
Thats the most basic site i think ive ever designed btw so please no comments

HI Peter

Can you tell me where you got the figure 30 vists per day from Dundee?

I use statcounter and it is telling me visits from dundee are allot less than this per day?

Can you send me a link to the page?
