Website Visits survey???

Ours is as follows.

Ok, but you wont find an 'average' due to the massive variance in websites.

Perhaps i'm not explaning myself. I have never seen anyones elses visitors. Do some sites actually reach 10,000 visitors per month or is my 2,000 the highest anyone has ever seen??

uniques vary from as low as 10 a day through to 1 million a day which might be youtube, I dont know without digging, that's what I mean though, the variance is huge. Even in your sector, you cant get an average there are so many factors involved that create variances so even 2 sites cannot be closely compared.

Disclosing this type of information is not a route many webmasters would take.

Not only does it serve no real purpose, it is also an eye opener for competition.

I appreciate what you may be after so your best port of call would be Alexa. From there you can pop in your site and any other you may want to view the readily available data.

Comparisons between different businesses don't really mean much....

What I would say about my own is that once I realised that not all unique visits were real and started screening them out I got quite a shock!

I regularly update & sanitise my web stats to try and filter these out but some always get through!

I guess what I'm saying is that I do monitor the trend for unique visitors but take them with a large pinch of salt!

I'm much more focused on "duration of visits", "number of visits via search engine click through" and "number of key phrases found for". I believe these too are potentially not totally real, but offer a better view of progress.

My current SEO goal is to break through the 1,000 search terms per month in the next 3 months... don't know if I'll make it as it obviously gets harder the closer you get to it!
