    Default Backlinks!

    Hi all

I have a question, I have watched the Matt Cutts Video regarding backlinks. He has stated that they are crucila to the sucess of google rankings. I.e "Failure" and the old Bill Clinton scenario.

Ok my question. If relevant links are the most important i.e sites that share the same topic. Other than competitors who obvioulsy wouldnt give you a link where do we go bearing in mind forums do not weigh that much?

Companies who are not quite competitors but in the same line of business. Companies who you might share some lines with, but that you have enough differences that you won't be loosing business over it. Companies providing something connected but that you don't do yourself - my links page is a resource for my visitors.

Good advice but if possible get content based links as opposed to links on link or useful resources pages.

For example if you made wetsuits you could look for links on diving club websites or dive holiday websites or even organisations who train commercial divers.

Links from trusted sites are worth chasing, such as university or government sites. Securing really good links isn't easy, that's why there's such a huge industry peddling links from spam sites.

University or government sites as suggested by RedEvo are very good because they are high PR sites. It would be nice if you could put a backlink in there. But then again, they have strict regulations against spammers.
Why not write blogs or articles regarding your topic and put links going to your main site in the content. Then post it. It would be much better.
    Good Luck!

So for example: We get lots of enquiries from new start businesses, we have a page rank of 3 (we actually do) the ideal backlinks for us would be accountants? or maybe sellers of Equipment?

Hmmm? How would I go about doing this? sending them an email? calling them?

    Any suggestions?

Write an article about some accountancy practices or similar, pop it online and then call them offering the link...

I wouldn't worry too much about having a recip link to your competitors on a links page. If your customer has decided to go to your links page you have probably already lost them as a customer.

Indeed, but his main purpose is a boost for juice if I am to understand his query correctly.

    Good point though.
