Local business info appearing on Google

Could anyone give me a source of information for learning about the Local Business Listings which appear on Google?

They come and go on our searches, and although we've managed to submit our business details, it seems to be hit and miss whether they are generated after a search (i.e. when we're testing). There doesn't appear to be a clear logic behind their publication.

    Thanks.

Mine are pretty consistent; I ave had one or two drop back but the majority stay put. There is no clear logic, you're right there. Can you give us the keyword you are searching on, and put your email address into your profile via settings (click the MYA1BF tab) so we can see what your web address is (cos you cant post it here yet).

I've just posted an explanatory reply, without links, but I've been told I can't post a message until I've done 15 posts. I sort of understand, but not quite.

    But thanks for the interest.

Keywords are sussex psychologist and/or sussex psychology on a custom-targeted Google campaign to the SE of England (Sussex, Surrey and Kent).

you are at No. 1 natural lisitngs for the 1st phrase and appear in the local listings with your other website. But I dont see anything for google local for the 2nd phrase which would indiciate you havent geared your local listing for that phrase.

Yes, that's what I don't understand. The 2nd Phrase is actually the first two words of the business name, and what we submitted to Google for the business listing. It does appear occasionally, but, as I said, I can't see the pattern. It's not often there.

When you say geared your listing - do we have any choice?

And is there any way of getting back to editing the listing if we can't see it?

    Apologies for the questions....

yes there is, you go into your google business centre and edit in there. if it comes and goes, so definately is there at times, there may be nothing you can do. Seems odd. You could always try setting up a second listing and see if that makes a difference. You can have more than 1 listing.

OK, thanks, I'll give that a go. I have to admit that I didn't know one could get into a business centre.

Mmm, well, I'll have to remember how I did it - it was late at night, and I don't always keep a record of the sites we list on. My fault. They don't exactly make it obvious....
