    Help please

I cannot understand why my old website http://nina.caveweb.co.uk/pets.asp was always on page one of google for 'pet sitters in Hemel Hempstead', and indeed, all the areas listed on that page, when my new one keeps slipping. In fact it was almost top on google and remained static, so I have been tinkering with my meta tags and titles, adding the word Hemel Hempstead etc.

However, now if you search those terms I only come up on the second page! I do not want to lose our presence and page two is no good considering our visiting service is actually based in Hemel.

Any pointers would be gratefully received. My new site is http://www.ninasnanniesforpets.co.uk/petvisiting.html

I may be going mad, but I cannot find more than two references to Hemel Hempstead one in your META description and one in your content.

Nothing in your URL, or page Titles.

You are bottom of page one for 'pet sitters in Hemel Hempstead' in both global and UK google.

Just in case I have gone totally mad, and missed something!!! Easy to do on a Friday!! Can you point out the page you actually want to be ranked higher? PM me if you do not want to publish...

Search phrase of pet sitter but the page is called "petvisiting"?

Basics are to get your phrase or phrases into as much of the following areas where possible:
    Page Name / URL
    Meta Title and keywords
    Header tags, preferably <H1>
    Body Text

Yes indeed - to help further those should be addressed, although it MIGHT not give you the lift you were hoping.

You need to get links back to your page you want ranked for that term by having the link text (anchor text) with variations of the keyword you want to target.

That will boost you and help maintain (you need to keep active in link building ideally)

    Good luck!

Try and keep your content fresh, if you haven't updated it for a while. Maybe spend some time expanding your inbound links a bit too. Money in the bank!
