    Age of Domain

I have been trying to get to page one for a few websites but I have noticed that my competitors domain names are at least registered in 2000 and mine was not taken out until 2008 do I have any chance of being higher up on google than them?? or am I just wasting my time?

The length of time a domain has been registered for does a slight impact on SERPs but not as much as well written content and applying good SEO techniques to the site.

You're not wasting your time, so keep going.

Google especially has shifted more to "authority" but it's not a massive factor. You just gotta apply great SEO techniques, try to get links from sites that are deemed to be authoritative within that sector and keep going.

For all you know - their SEO efforts might be non existent but of course, only by checking out several things will you know if they are "actively" trying to rank for specific terms.

All depends on what the sites have in the way of SEO.

An old site with a keyword rich domain is a powerfull force.

It's a shame the that age of your SEO expert doesn't have any impact otherwise Alvin would have them queuing around the block

Funny you should say that as I have enough work to last me at least 100 years, and there queuing round the planet not the block.

Unfortunately I suspect I may run out of time.

I am currently developing a new website. It is less than one year old and I manage to get on first page of Google (Top 5) above myspace.
So, don't give up. Inbound links make a huge impact.

I have managed to get first page but only on the less searched terms that know one really wants!! I also spent loads of time on inbound links only to find that after a few months the reciprical links had been deleted. I cant seem to find good google valued links where do you get your links from?

i find seo very frustrating what seems to work on one site fails to work on another.
