Totally agree with Wood1e - there's a lot more than just getting the meta tags right on your site to ranking well in the search engines.

Once the meta tags are right, my usual process is:

1. Build links.
2. Build links.
3. Go to sleep.
4. Get up, build Links
4. yeah, you get the idea...

Also, like Designer-J says, try to target a longer tail keyword. Once you rank well for this kind of longtail keyword it will be easier to start ranking well for a more general keyword...
