    Default Google Webmaster Central

A Happy New Year to you all.

There seems to be a lot of good and a lot of bad information out there concerning how to rank well in Google these days.

I stumbled across the Google Webmaster Central Channel on YouTube this afternoon for the first time. I personally think that it is a gold mind of information and it is so refreshing to hear it from the horse's mouth.

Check it out. After all, there's not much on the box at the moment and it's freezing cold outside.

I'm sorry if some of you have come across this source of valuable information before but it should prove useful to others.

    Cheers - Mike Dove.

    Well spotted 'd'.

Definitely a gold mine full of gold nuggets.

I thought that it might have been a bit ambitious to post on 1st January!

A happy and prosperous New Year to you too!

That was a useful link! It will be interesting to see how "the search" will change in the coming years. As Chris said, they will look for new ways to search...

Google also have an excellent channel on YouTube: straight from the horse's mouth but to be taken with a pinch of salt (to mix metaphors).

Mike - google webmaster tools team also have an official blog, i have followed them since the beginning and it is a very helpful resource. I have tried several of their tips while adding sitemaps and monitoring my site's perfomance on Google webmaster tools. Specially now that you can mention geo-targeting inside webmaster tools it has become a very effective tool for some of our projects.

It's a bit of a pity that Analytics and Webmaster Tools haven't been combined into one tool since there's quite a cross-over between them. Personally, I think Analytics is the most useful source of free information anywhere: webmaster tools is more about how visible your site is to Google's bots.

Yeah, I think Google promotes webmaster tools in Analytics, I'm sure I've seen it somewhere.

yes actually Google advices webmasters to use webmaster tools. You will find this advice on Blogger, Adsense, Adwords, Analytics, Help pages, and all official google blogs. So I would say its quite deadly to ignore webmaster tools for SEO
