Video for SEO

Hello all,

Looking over the internet for the next SEO help i have found that You Tube and other video posting sites are increasingly becoming the source for visiual answers online.

If i created a series of short videos about printing do's and dont's, processes and guides etc would this help? being in my industry looking out at the public i cant imagine people wanting to see me go on about paper weights and colour accuracy?

Your thoughts? please help.

Good content always helps, have the videos on your website, integrated and not just placed on your website. Making sure they fit in. This may help in creating a virtual word of mouth. Whereby someone sees they are on your website, talks to a mate who mentions he/she wants a printer...

But just posting the videos on YouTube is not necessrily going to provide anything, as you will be competiting with billions of other videos, which may actually be more exciting/interesting.

Videos are great for promoting useful content and also a really good way of marketing yourself or your business.

I think more and more people are going to start getting into video in the future. It's a great way to sell products and at the moment if you do it right you're going to have a competitive advantage over other people because video's do convert really well, again, if done right.

Well done in using the initiative to use video to promote your business. I do agree wood1e that just posting the video will not get you hits. You will need to agressively promote the video to get the views you need. I think also distributing the video to other popular video mediums will get you more awareness of your business.

I've been watching a series of eye-opening videos by Andy Jenkins (no, I'd never heard of him either) but he makes the point that it's much easier to get on the front page of Google's organic results with a video on YouTube than with a web page. Just don't buy the microphone he suggests, it's pants!

Imagin this, would you rather read lots of text or watch a video on the same subject? I'd go for video everytime, but remeber content is king when it comes to SEO.

There a couple of little tricks to using video and certainly one is to add value or provide content, which in turn will produce traffic. Hopefully this traffic will be monitored and then targeted accordingly.

I use a range of video tools via some of the engines (Youtube, Viddler etc) however segmenting your market (target) is important with video as with all of your marketing. Too often I have seen firms focus on single areas and forget the bigger picture. Once you know what you are trying to achieve and in what areas you can provide content to suit.
