Default Stuck on page two any suggestions?

I seem to be stuck on page two of google for the search term Manchester Airport Parking. I have tinkered with my site as much as I can and sometimes I jump to third for an hour or so or a couple of days and and am then kicked back to page two.

I am constantly searching for new links but was wondering if anybody else had any suggestestion to help me move up a few spots to a page one position that I could hold onto for a while? When I am on page one even at position six my conversions are OK so really suffer when I am on page two.

My URL is in my signature hope somebody can help as I seem to have hit a brick wall SEO wise.

Thanks in advance to you all.

    Hi Fazza

Firstly I am in no way a seo expert so these suggestions are more of a test to see if I have learnt anything about the evil one.

Firstly I think the biggest thing that might be holding you back is most of the ones on page one have manchester in the url.

And all seem to have the words Manchester Airport Parking mentioned in the text more than your page

Ps I used manchester airport parking for the search term.

As I say dont do anything until the gurus pop along

Looking at your linking work, you are going about this the right way. You will have to work harder to get the top results, as the top 10 is full of domains registered in 2003 or before, but keep pushing the quality links

Just a quick glance tells me you could tighten up the onpage SEO by shortening the title tag and you have too many <h2> tags - I'd use a maximum of 2, then <h3> tags, and vary the phrase a bit more with your <h2> e.g.:

    Cheap Parking at Manchester Airport

Airport Park and Ride at Manchester

I thought the title tag length didnt matter that much as long as you had the majority of your keywords in the first 60 odd characters.

Look at Alvins...some go right across the screen

I agree with pretty much everything said above, but would also mention a few things.

    1. Your menu is made up of images. Google doesn't really like images, so you should consider changing the menu to be a text menu.

    2. None of your links is using the "title" attribute. It's a bit like the "alt" attribute but can be used on links. Google likes this.

    3. If you can't change your menu to text (and you really should) use the title attribute for all the menu items. It will really help.

Yell at me if I've been too techie.

    Hope it helps.

Alvin and I have different approaches to title tags - his way works for him and vice versa.

My method involves using a more focussed title - but I'm doing this whilst considering every other on-page aspect in concert
