Now it has been suggested that page rank is getting to be pretty worthless in appraising a sites value or power on the web.
I have noticed since the advent of Google stating that in was going to crack down on bought links many sites PR dropping.
Now I think this is a deliberate ploy on Googles part to stamp out bought links.
a site of mine Dropped from a PR4 to PR2 and I think the reason was that it had thousands of out going links and google decided I must be selling links ( not guilty ).
Now this site has 3,000 incoming links from google and none of my SERP results have been affected.
Point is the site still has all the clout it had before the page rank drop.
Therefore I would say do not judge a site by its PR better to investigate the links going to that site to get a true idea of its position in the scheme of things.
Being a cynic I take the view that google is clamping down on bought links in order to increase its revenue from PPC.
I see PR as a bit of a funny one. To say it doesn't help at all is probalby foolish. But I wouldn't bank my hopes on it
The recent google change bought my parking site from PR 3 to PR 5. Since the change, I've had a slight increase in my SERP's, but only by one place (12th to 11th) on one term, and a few places on another term to number 20

wow well done ,you only have to do a few minor alteration to your tags and page copy + you need a few more page and you will be right up there.
