I'm starting to see some results on google for my website, slowly moving up the rankings for my main keywords (office supplies, office furniture etc) however what is the best way to improve my more product specific subpages rankings? eg A page on the paper or envelope products we sell

Any help greatly appreciated

Make sure the URL has the words are targeting i.e paper envelopes.

Make sure the title tag has the keywords in, but not the first letter, eg 'buy paper envelopes'

meta keywords and description, have a good description because if the page starts to rank well people will see this and if it is no good may not click through.

Get inbound links directly to this page, with the anchor text 'paper envelopes'

Make sure on your site you have links to this page with the correct anchor text, perhaps in the navigation or site map page.

If you have lots of pages being added all the time make sure Google knows by using a google sitemap (this won't help the ranking but it will keep google up to date with changes on your site)

Use Google product search, this won't help with the ranking of the page but it can see you listed at the top of the search results when people search for a specific product name.

Make sure you have plenty of good content on the pages you want ranked, afterall this is what google will spider.

If possible on the page have the keywords in headings or subheadings

I'm sure other people will give you more ideas but that should get you started!

Hi Mark, I see you have just 10 pages indexed at the moment, when was the last time you submitted a sitemap to the search engines?

I'd agree with Captain Planet on most stuff here. The only thing I would add is "deep links" to that certain page containing the keyword(s) you wish to rank for.

I wouldn't worry about meta keywords as much as they were made obsolete by the big 3 search engines years ago. Good to add them still for the meta crawlers, just don't get hung up on them.

Thanks for the advise. Going to start implementing them over the coming days/weeks.

With regards to being indexed, i have submitted my sitemap to all the major search engines and Google has indexed 69 of my pages (i have 106 in total)

What ecommerce system are you using?

It looks like further into your shop categories, e.g.

www.easycrane.co.uk/stationery-catalogue/stationery/desktop_accessories.htm

the sub-category pages go offsite to another web domain: opnet.co.uk

you really need to change this so all the pages are hosted under your domain.
