My website is currently on the 1st page of goole for 'pet sitting' and 'pet sitters', although we are slipping a bit for 'pet sitters'. I use ad zooks and vivastreet for the areas that we cover, since the majority of website area covered pages do not get picked up on google.
I do have a new website that is inactive at the moment, since I cannot finish it through lack of time. My current site is done on dreamweaver which I am familier with whereas my new site is not.
My question is this. I cannot get a look in for Bournemouth, Poole or Weston Super Mare and need some advice. I do update my Dorset page, and have tried using ad zooks and vivastreet for those areas, but nothing seems to work. Its driving me crazy, so any advice is appreciated
I've said this to you on numerous ocassions Nina, you need to sort out
your navigation, ask your website guy to do it, if he doesn't get someone
who will.
Appreciate this and I do have a new website ready to go. Problem is, I need to finish it off before it can go live. I guess I need to make some time next week, but using a completely new system is so darn difficult. Perhaps if my computer had 4 legs I would be okay
I don't mean to sound harsh, but you seem to have asked the same
questions in various places for what feels like 2 years, you have had some
good answers and a lot of help, but nothing seems to change.
What do you mean when you say "I do have a new website ready to go"?
Do you mean a completely new site on a new domain, or just a new design
to go on the existing domain?
Will you be able to make any changes people recommend with the new
site, or will you still be dependant on the guy who sets it up for you?
Was unaware of asking the same question for two years, since I ALWAYS follow advice hence my areas covered pages were added some time ago.
I cannot remember asking about adzooks or vivastreet either!! I must be going senile in my old age.
Yes I do have a new website, which is not quite finished yet, and since my hard drive packed up, I have to replicate a lot of forms etc which is leaving me very little time. I am sorry if my questions are irritating, but its the first time I have used this section of the forum.
A silly question perhaps but when you have been doing back linking (or whoever does your back link campaign) have you targeted local directories and put the country name in as part of the anchor?
Gumtree might be a good bet for you too. Not so much for the back link but visibility wise.
Yes, I have been using gumtree, adzooks and vivastreet, just for the areas I mentioned. For some strange reason however, google doesn't seem to pick them up
I think I need to put some time aside and try and finish my new website. It is just so frustrating when your are not technically minded, sorry folks
Nina - one way of getting better listings is swapping a few links with like minded companies that are not in competition with you, but related to what you do, such as your local vet or rescue centre, pet food store etc.
Once you have a few local links set up, add a listing to google: googleDOTCOM/local/add/businessCenter?gl=GB&hl=en-US
Then make sure you have the keywords AND descriptions meta tag set up, this needs to include words from the Web page, dont just invent stuff!
