Here's a better idea. Ask the Chubster. He's always in the SEO forum, soaks up info like a sponge and most importantly IMPLEMENTS IT. Chub, if you are listening, has the help you've received in here helped you?
When the chubster started he said something like "I just don't get this stuff", I responded with "Chub, you gotta get it!". He listened, he went to work and as his regular reports show he's seeing results.
Many others don't act on the advice, they just suggest it's beyond them and look for shrtcuts - hint, there aren't (m)any shortcuts.
Here's the drill:
1. Build a website using best practice
2. Research your market and use words and phrases people search for
3. Create something that attracts links
4. Eh...
5. That's it
Some A1 members would like SEO's to (possibly) engage in a challenge by starting a website from scratch and implementing your own advice so we can see the progress.
Who is up for this?
Well - funny you should say that - Phil @ Openmind has given me an ecommerce site to beta test for SEO and I'm gonna set up a live shop on it and post its progress as a tutorial. I wont start until end of June though

Well I believe it has helped me....have to admit I was struggling at first to grasp the concepts and spent way to much time reading and not actually doing....(something I think all us "newbies" are guilty of) thinking it was some sort of black art that I could never do. SEO was for the big boys and I couldn't possibly compete.
But it isnt.....and I CAN...
I am seeing results on some of my pages but I need more time to evaluate properly, one that will be interesting is my Home page, taken advice gleaned from here and elsewhere and have implemented it. At the moment I do not rank at all for it....only made the changes a few days ago so only time will tell.
One thing I will say is that if you are serious about having a profitable web site then you just DO have to do some work, there are no free meal tickets (although I will keep trying).
It begs an interesting question.... If the objective is traffic and money, or the far more dubious accolade of a spot on google for a specific term for a single site:
If the objective is targetted traffic, there are other and faster ways than SEO such as social media , article and blog traffic, video hubs and so on
Now that is a challenge which would be interesting.....
BTW...if anyone takes the 30DC, and then follows up on immediate edge, you see exactly how those guys get top rankings for very competitive terms.....and it is about networks of pages and social promotion, not single site SEO and link building . Dan raine and rob somerville are seriously smart cookies.

The objective is always the same for me, summed up in one word - PROFIT
Its not about proving oneself, its actually so people can see it to believe it - people find it hard to believe something they cannot touch, feel or see before they do it, either themselves or pay someone to do it.
For all that is said, if it could be shown and seen, I think it would motivate and spur people on, as all results do.
Agree with David 100% if you don't believe in the power of SEO now I can only suggest a visit to the opticians or maybe a hearing aid.
If you have not seen some of the results that an old braggard like I has posted over time, not a lot of hope for yer.
So then why isn't everyone doing it who relis on the internet for sales or enquiries?
