We have already established that unfortunately Sally doesnt have the budget for a properley set up linking campaign, hence she is doing DIY as much as she can and what Sally is asking, is, is she wasting her time with these links. Which sounds like a yes to me on the basis she has described.

have you read the google guidelines?

amateur, professional, campaigns, strategy or whatever you are talking about still needs to follow the same route.

you don't need loads of time and money to make a linking campaign work.
naturally if you did have both of these then you would get more benefit.

your linking should be made up all the different types of links and not just focussed on one particular method

Desybabe, they are "Guidelines", nothing more.

Sally, there is nothing wrong with reciprocal linking but if you are going to do it, get them from relevant sites.

As RedEvo says, relevance is the key.

Forget pages that might be sports but a PR6 because it will do nothing to your site. The link will hold very little value.

Just go to Google and type in "ADD URL"+"Keyword"

That will bring up a list of sites that allow you to ad your link and which relevant.

Thanks very much KP, they are highly relevant sites but I wasn't sure how the PR worked (if the site is PR4 but my link is on a page with no PR).

Also one more question please. As they are dating sites some of their links pages have adult links on them, if I am on the same page as some adult links will search engines assume I have adult content?

To further confuse you that's not because of the name PageRank. That comes from the inventor Larry Page But engines rank documents or pages, not entire sites

However looking at the concept of trusted domains - domains with lots of well ranled pages - it's worth getting a link from one of their lower ranked pages as these pages may well experience an increase in their rank because of where they are - on a trusted domain.

When securing a link as yourself this. If I was Google would I value the 'opinion' of the page doing the linking?
