Link Strategies - is this wrong?

The majority of the number 1 sites links are nothing more more than link spam. I'd ask Google to explain, you never know.

It's sad to see non legit links working in such a high profile way. Why bother trying to be legit when this kind of nonsense works...........

Maybe because legit methods work for all time, while black hat methods will always be found out (eventually)?

And? so what? If they are doing something that is bad, then they are open to being nailed. All it takes is for a few people to report it, or even for that magic algo to pick it up. If it IS running black hat then eventually it will get nailed. IF the black hat stuff is not being protected by a set of high quality backlinks of course.

Decent authorative backlinks keep the spam bar raised all the way, and a site can get away with murder.

I assume you are talking about google? if that is the case, then God is AFAIK a little older than 9 yrs of age

Of course in a meritocracy this site will eventually get caught, all things being equal.

Oh dear, have I said the wrong thing? If you are not sure what point I am making then I must be really poor at making my point! but I can't see how better I can explain it. Black hat methods work well, that is a fact, BUT, sites disappear if they are found out.

As for the comment 'have been for some time' Hitler did alright, for a bit.
