Is this a good indication that you're on the right track to rank in Google?

As I understand, it's much easier to rank in Yahoo but is this usually a good way of knowing that, in time, you should start to appear in Google?

In my experience no, I have ranked at no2 for a very competative phrase, pretty much by accident if im honest, on yahoo, and for the same phrase on the big G im on page 21 i think.

Its a good source of traffic for me, but it isnt mirrored in Google

if you are ranking on Yahoo, then your on page is pretty much good to go. You now need to slowly link build across the site to rank in Google. How old is the domain?

Yes, I agree on the link building. I think this is something we really need to work on.

Domain is around 9-10 months old.

Yahoo and Google use different systems, though there is a lot of cross over.

Frankly, unless Yahoo is specifically valuable to your market, I'd focus on Google first - a site that is strong in Google is more likely to do well in Yahoo as well, but the reverse is less likely to be true.

Fair enough. Yea, we are focusing on Google. I just noticed some great hits from Yahoo.

At the end of the day Case thats what matters, we get some good leads from yahoo too - some people must still use it lol

I'm Number 1 on Yahoo for a number of phrases but anywhere between 6 and 36 for these on Google (.com and .co.uk)

Yahoo picks up pretty quickly but once you are flying along Google seems to update itself quicker and send more spiders my way
