It would be nice to combine the keyword/s with the brand name into the domain name, but admit this can sometimes make a domain name a little long. But the length of the domain name means nothing when displayed on the search engine listing. You could always use 2 domain names and have an abbreviated/shorter domain name for customers to remember.
Okay, I'll redirect the old domain (which is really crap for SEO purposes and any other come to think of it) to a new domain but which one? I'm hoping to optimise the new domain/s (at least one of them) for the Liverpool/ Wirral areas. Do I redirect to the branded site or the none branded site. Me is confused now- doesn't take much as Alvin well knows by now lol! I guess I can always change my business name later on down the line as opposed to now if I'm going to optimise the none branded site!

Now I am confused There is no problem if your brand and company name is "dirty duck printing" in using the domain name www.liverpoolprinting.com E.t.c.
Sorry Al, been up half the night and not really with it today yet- need a few thousand coffees me thinks but yeah I'm sooooo going to look into that later and hopefully choose a few relevant domain names. Is there any limit to how many domains you can redirect to a sinlge site? Obviously each site will have to have it's own unique content- I know that but instead of spending forever, can't I just redirect them all to a central site?
Okay so lets say that in your ignorance you register your company name as your domain name i.e. dragonfly-services.co.uk
Now you recognise that you would have been better with something like dragonfly-sameday-couriers.co.uk and register it.
All your stationary, vans and publicity you your existing domain name, and google knows all about your existing domain name. So you are not really in a position to change or dispense with your old domain name, and neither do you wish to.
So what is the best way to use your new keyword laiden domain name?
Or would you get the same importance with something like dragonfly-services.co.uk/courier/sameday/index.html
I'm told that hyphens in the main domain name are a no no as they're hard to remember. However, you should use them in all other pages and separate words using hyphens. Is this right?
1a) Keep dragonfly services, keep it on your propaganda, vans etc.
1b) Keep this your main site for the longterm, the brandname
2) buy courier-london.info
3) plop a quick 1-5 page SEO site on there specifically for courier stuff in london
4) dragonfly services somewhere in the small print
5) get some backlinks to it
6) rank for that site
Repeat 2-6, ad infinitum. All it takes is a day or 2 of effort.
It works, but it's kinda going after a quick buck. Not sure if it'll always work in the future, and you do have to be savvy. Hence the main domain fallback.
