But I have just seen a domain empty except for title tags ranking #2 for an expression contained in the domain name , beating trusted content domains with DMOZ, YAHOO, 30 relevant page backlinks, loads of site back linksand name included in page and title tags also.....
Yeah. I feel i definitely missed a trick with the domain name.
Only problem was i'd already started my SEO work on my existing one and don't want to change

I know what you're saying Al but you have to think about branding too. For example, if I were to choose a domain name like cheapflyerprinting, I can't brand with that- there's nothing there to do it with but if were to choose a compromise such as petalsprintanddesign (just to fit with your flowery theme lol) then I'd have petals to work with- get me? Has to be a bit of both IMHO!!!

When your turning over 10 million a year ,then talk to me about branding.
Otherwise pick a keyword rich domain name.
Plus a brand is a company or product name not a domain name.
Yes, defo Al but you do need a business anme and people get confused between differing domain names and business names. Ooooo, me can't wait to be turning over 10 million a year Al but you'll be pushing up the daisies by then lol. don't worry though, there'll be no expense spared in the flowers department on a Sunday afternoon though lol! I might experiment with this later on and choose something I can't brand with and another that I can. Far too much to do at the moment to do it now though- lets get the this site optimised first and then I'll look into it and hopefully see which one fairs better with the SE's.
Will it last though? My (exceedingly ignorant) opinion is that the search results I get these days from Google just arn't as good as they used to be. As perhaps silly as it sounds I think Google pays a little too much attention to new domains - not just those made for SEO purposes but also blogs etc. Ie trying to get stuff into the SERPs too fast (because that's what everyone wants, right?)
It'd be so easy to rectify with some sort results page preference along the line of "show me newer pages/show me older" type thingamygummy. But I could imagine large parts of the blogosphere and SEOsphere throwing a collective wobbly if they dared do that

You just ain't getting it kido.
Your brand name and domain name can be a million miles apart ,no one looks at a domain name except us geeky types.
okay, what does everyone else think then? I still haven't chosen a domain name so still in position to go either way so come on guys, lets get everyone elses opinion on this before I make any disaterous decisions. Do I go with Al's suggestion? Be bold....
