Default Which to choose if you cant have .com???

Does anyone know if google treats .us equally to .com? - I have never seen a .us at the top of rankings, so I wonder.

And is it forbidden to sell anything from a .org??

So which to choose, .us or .org?? in order to sell into a stateside market

I heard that (at one time) google were downgrading .info and treating as spam.

I only have one .info ecommerce, and that was given a good hard slap about 6 months ago, never to recover.

I ) I have read in googles webmaster that the extension plays no part in SEO ranking can't find it at the moment but can assure you I have top rankings for Non .com and non.co.uk extensions.

Geographically it can be important of course.

2 ) you can sell on .org as many charities do and Moi. second site is ours

http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=...ei=UTF-8&rd=r1

3 ) rubbish

4 ) I have a high ranked .info related to insurance.I also have a high ranked .biz.

The company I work for has a .us (hosted and registered in the US), it does appear on page 1 but only for the more obscure keywords.
I'm struggling to get it up the rankings for the real money-shot keyphrases.
The UK equivalent site does really well for UK based searches, but not the US one yet.
Go for a .com if you can get the one you want.

Point to note that you cannot buy a US extension if you are not a US resident or you do not have a US registered business.

Interesting.

The guy that said that was a respected internet marketer, who tests everything. So sure. my site may be an odd one out, but that issue about .info was doing the rounds about 3-6 months ago.

Reckon I will go with the .org. I own about four variants, but the .com and easy alternatives had gone.

Sorry, facetious aside, there are no warnings either on namecheap or on godaddy, so it doesnt look like they enforce it.

A b*gger really! they are some great names to!!!...which use the .us to form a word, just like del.icio.us
