I have several pages that rank reasonably well for a narrow phrase such as "Same Day Courier #town#", this has been part of my target, however due to my metatags and content nothing that rates for "same Day Delivery #town#" nothing at all. This is my fault for not using the word delivery at all hardly, as was pointed out recently elsewhere on the forums. I have today, rejigged a few keywords, and just uploaded the changed files. Now lets see how long before they start getting indexed.
I'm not talking about hitting #1 spot. Just the time for the changes to take effect. My thinking is that, this will give me a good guide as to how long it take for our little tweaks to find their way into google.
Interestingly my home page hasn't been crawled since the 7th. Think maybe there is a queue of pages waiting to be crawled for some of my sites.
Are you basing that on your logs or the page cache?
I added a new link from my homepage the other day. no other link pointing
to the page, within 24hrs the new page was indexed but the cached
snapshot of the homepage was still saying 7th August.
Webmaster tools state when the home page was last crawled
The log files and the cache date are the same, however it didn't appear in search results for nearly a week. Suggesting that it was processed fairly promptly (i.e. with in a day or two) however the indexes at google took nearly a week to update.
