Are the above really worth placing on your website?
I, like I am sure everyone else on the forum, does keep an eye on the competition and I have never seen either of the above on their websites. However, I do like to be a little different
Especially with the way interactive media is going, it really does place you above your competition. Looks professional too.
Thats the next step that we are taking with our company - to create a corporate showreel that will show potential clients what we do and how we do it - all under 30secs without having to read text or scroll through a brochure or the website.
It is definietly on my list of things to add to my site. SOme people relate to text, whereas others get more info from sound - by having both, you are maximising the people you can appeal to. I think the youth market definitely expect sound and moving images!

Without doubt - but then you would expect me to say that!
Genuinely though, the use of video on a website is very definitely worth doing - as long as it is done well. Just as average web design, graphics or photos can detract from your online image, so can average video, so if you are going to do it do it well.
Over this last year, with the advent of the BBC iPlayer and other online video services, people are increasingly switched on to the idea of watching video online. Mrsite, a company in a similar field to us, has quite a nice video on their site which includes client testimonials:
I am extremely interested in doing something like this on our website. However, I need to have a good think about the type of angle to take. Rather than having me sitting at my desk giving a long speach about pet sitting, I would prefer to do something really informal showing how we are a family business etc. etc.
