Meta confusion!

I haven't got a clue about SEO so probably in the wrong place for a start but could someone please explain what these are all about:

Meta title
Meta description
Meta keywords

I'm getting impatient whilst I wait for 'SEO for Dummies' to arrive! If it's a really dumb question I'll just wait

Meta Title is the title of your page that is displayed at the top of your browser. It's one of, if not the most important tag for SEO so use it wisely

Meta Description is the description of you site. It is often displayed as the copy on the SERPs so it should be worded in such a way to entice people to visit your site. It also has a bearing on you SEO so throw in some keywords for good measure but writing for humans rather then search engines is vital.

Meta Keywords is a list of your keywords, it's ignored by many search engines including Google so is the least important of the three tags you've mentioned. It's still worth using, but don't waste too much time on them that time could be better spent else where on your site.

All three tags should be unique to each page.

I know I can be guilty of making even easy things complicated to understand sometimes. Clarity is important. :-)
