Default RSS feeds & SEO

I have heard it said that if you implement RSS feeds incorrectly/in a certain way, that they can have a negative impact on your SEO. The website in partic associated with this comment was the BBC.

I am wanting to bring in News, economic, business, transport feeds into the Fantasy Couriers website.

Is there anything that I need to do/think about when I do this. SEO is very important - i don't want to do anything that's going to stuff it up.

Many thanks
Sandra

The only thing I know that the rss feeds negative effect
to your feed is when you submit it in the wrong category
of the rss directory google might considered your site as
spam.

The only way i can think of that RSS feeds can hurt you is if you send out the full article through your rss feed and somebody authoritative picks it up and uses it on their web site. This is because they are usually visited more regularly by search engine spiders and get indexed quicker than say a new website. So as they're getting the article indexed before you, it may seem to the SEs that they're the content owners and you're the one who's just copying it from them.

To avoid any such situation, make sure that your feeds contain only a brief excerpt of your content.

Boxby, you are talking about conveting RSS feeds to content for your site aren't you?

That being the case, the only worry is that the content is beyond your control and it can pull your pages off topic.

Syndicating your content by RSS has obvious benefits, if you can generate enough interest

Receiving feeds, well thats obviously never going to be a winner because of DC
