Default Local business results Vs No.1

Hi,

I remember seeing stats for the % of users who will click position 1 over 2, upto 10, what % views the second page, etc, but are there any stats for the % of clicks that will go to the local business results over standard results?

For example searching 'web design kent' gives you the 10 local business results A-J above the standard search listing for position 1, what % of clicks does the local business results take compared to the standard #1 spot?

Thanks,
Greg

I would think the stats are likely to much the same as they would be for a regular web page apart from the fact that a local search like this returns 20 results on the first page rather than 10.

So in this case the local search positioned as 'A' will receive a similar click through success to position 1 on a regular search results page. I think the magic percentage for click through for position 1 is 42%. Which, according to Douglas Adams, is probably why 42% is the meaning of life, the universe and everything!

In terms of geo-specific targeting the question you need to ask is, is the keyword you intend targeting searched for?

If the answer is yes, what are the differences between this keyword and the generalised term.

If the results of this research are favourable you need to decide what form the geo-specific targeting will take, be that a sub page or a stand alone website.

Regardless of what is decided the page or site needs to be well constructed and based around the fundamentals of SEO, followed up by a good quality link building or deep linking campaign.

Some people dive into this area without considering the basics, which must be, do people search for the terms and how competitive are they.

I must agree with this this statement is really what SEO is all about, also they must be targeted to your industry and products.
