I think being your site listed in top 1 ranking has many disadvantages. One of them is your site is prone to duplicate content since more people could copy your site's content. There will be also some competitors who will try to use your site's techniques just to let you down..
But I think the advantages of being number one in serp over weighs its disadvantages. So I still want to get the highest ranking in serp and accept the risk. That's a business and has great challenges to face...
I will still aim to make my site be in top one ranking, because I know that a site may get the highest chances or percentage to be clicked and visited by potential customers. This is because most visitors prefer to visit those sites that are listed in the highest position in serp.
So what's your opinion about this.. Kindly share your views and ideas...
Is it better to be No. 1 in Google...or not? Is that the question? If so, it is indeed a bit of an odd question to ask given all the stuff on SEO we discuss here on A1! I think the posts in there and elsewhere pretty much sum up everyone's thoughts.
To be, or not to be number 1 in Google -- that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer page 2 positions as
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by SEO-ing and opposing end them. To die, to sleep--
No more--and by a sleep to say we end or page 2 status
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks of not being on page 1
That flesh is heir to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die, to sleep--
To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub,

I'm convinced this post is just some dude trying to get his postcount up for backlinks on australian travel. See here, identical post, identical backlinks. Obviously part of forum appeal is this backlinking in sigs but something like this honestly just devalues this forum in my eyes.
