Links in signatures

So whats the general consensus, are these good or bad.

I noticed the other day if I typed in Pet Galleries, lots of entries where coming up from the other forum on the front page of google (strangely none now but thats another issue)....would somebody who was looking for a free gallery click on a link that came from a business forum ?

Signature links are good for traffic if you are active on a relevant forum such as this IMO.

Any way that you can be found and get relevant traffic is a very good thing.

However, if a forum outranks you for your company name, you need some basic SEO performed on your site

With such a big site I need more than basic seo Ray

Although I am on page three in my own right for Free Pet Galleries...slowly plodding / stumbling my way through it

When you say big site, how big? Often a large site is much easier to rank

I've got nearly 5000 products live and quite a few more sitting in the background..

Just had a quick look in Webtools, one thing I don't understand is it is saying I have just shy of 15000 urls in my sitemap. This is a new sitemap of how the site is now so how come there are soooo many...realise it wont be the same but shouldnt it be nearer the amount of products I have??
