Default More than 2 listings on Google results page

I am pretty sure I have read this more than once, but can't lay my hands on the document right now, that Google only allows a maximum of 2 listings per website per results page (ie your own domain URL).

Yet this week i've found a phrase of mine with positons 1, 2 and 3, though No. 2 is indented.

Can you in fact list more than twice contrary to what i've read?

Where competition is low you may see sites appearing several times. It's unlikely on competitive terms I would think. Common sense suggests it's a sign Google is short of resources that match the search.

well I found another by accident yesterday, as you say, these are not competitive at all, quite longtail. I suppose they can change things without telling us.

The Google algo changes all the time but in this case it simply sounds like they are struggling to find relevant results.
